Another title fight has been added to AFL 19: Night of Champions. Two veterans will collide as France’s Nicolas Joannes (17-14) and Spain’s Daniel Requeijo (14-7) meet for the vacant featherweight title on the March 30 card in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, Spain.
Since turning professional in 2009 Joannes has competed all over Europe and against some top names like Marlon Maroas, Taylor Lapilus, and Bruno Mirando, and has registered wins over the likes of Hyram Rodriguez, Rasul Khataev, and the previously undefeated Hristo Hristov. Over the past decade the 30-year-old has proven to be a very well rounded fighter and has managed to secure wins via KO, submission, and decision.
Spanish fan favourite Daniel Requiljo returns to the promotion for the first time since AFL 14. The veteran has fought for Cage Warriors, Combate Americas, Pancrase, and Superior FC during his storied career and now returns home to AFL with his sights on becoming the featherweight champion. The 34-year-old has posted a record of 6-2 inside the AFL cage. A master of the rear naked choke, Requeijo is rarely ever in a boring fight and always pursues the finish. This fight should be fireworks!
