The AFL middleweight title will be decided at AFL 20: Resurrection when Spanish based Romanian fighter Ratza Ciprian (8-8) squares off against France’s Paul Marconnie (4-1). Both men were in action at the last AFL event in the area and both walked away with impressive stoppage wins.
Cirpian has been competing professionally since 2014 and brings with him a fierce reputation of putting opponents away and is never involved in a dull fight. Marconnie comes into this contest on a three-fight-win-streak, all submission stoppages, which started at AFL 17 last September. Nobody is expecting this fight to go the distance!
In addition to Ciprian vs. Marconnie, an exciting bantamweight contest between rising and undefeated stars Christian Maronas (3-0) and Johan Segas (2-0) was recently added to the card. Maronas made his debut at AFL 13 and has since won all three of his pro fights, stopping each opponent along the way, meanwhile Segas won his AFL debut in under 30 seconds and is known internationally for that viral headkick knockout in 2017 (watch here).
AFL 20: Resurrection will take place on May 18th at the Jose Antonio Gasca Municipal Sports Center with a card filled with some of Spain & Europe’s top MMA fighters.
